Who is Hideki Tojo?
Hideki Tojo was born in Tokyo on Dec. 30, 1884. Tojo followed in the footsteps of his father, a military leader who served in previous Japanese wars as a lieutenant. He worked up the ranks, like his father, but surpassed as he was promoted to General in 1936. After making a name for himself, he was promoted to General and command of the Imperial Navy. He was a strong supporter of the Tripartite Pact between Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and Fascist Italy. Hideki Tojo was in favor, along with Hitler and Mussolini, to conquer the world. He continued the war with China and Southeast Asia to expand Japan's empire.
Bombing of Pearl Harbor
The bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was a surprise a attack constructed by the Japanese military. It took place December 7th, 1941. The attack on the United States' naval base was taken as a precaution for the possibility of the United States interfering with Japanese plans in World War II; although it caused the United States to enter World War II a day later by declaring war on Japan. Japanese fighter jets among other weapons were used to damage all eight of Pearl Harbor's battleships, along with sinking four of them. The bombing of Pearl Harbor is seen as a war crime due to there being no declaration of war at the time. These atrocious acts by the Japanese military forever make December 7th, 1941, "a date which will live in infamy."
